COG LCD Display Modules(Chip-On-Glass)

Chip-On-Glass (COG LCD Display Modules) is a flip chip bonding method which is used for connect assembly of bare integrated circuits (ICs) on glass substrate directly by using Anisotropic Conductive Film (ACF). The pitch of the IC bumps (footprint) can be scaled down according to customers’ requirements (contact pitch of glass substrate). This method reduces the assembly area to the highest possible packing density, which especially important to those applications that space saving is crucial. It allows a cost-effective mounting of driver chips because integrating flex PCB is no longer required. The IC is bonded directly onto the glass substrate and is suitable for handling high-speed or high-frequency signals.

COG LCD Display Modules technology is one of the high-tech mounting methods which use Gold Bump or Flip Chip IC’s, and implemented in most compact applications. Chip-On-Glass integrated circuits were first introduced by Epson. In flip-chip mounting, the IC chip is not packaged but is mounted directly onto the PCB as a bare chip. Because there is no package, the mounted footprint of the IC can be minimized, along with the required size of the PCB. This technology reduces the mounting area and is better suited to handling high-speed or high frequency signals.

COG is primarily used for source driver ICs within TFT display technologies where they are used for LCD, plasma, e-ink, OLED or 3D technologies. This is essential for consumer electronic products such as notebooks, tablets, cameras or mobile phones with the need for small size and light-weight components.

Advantages:

Very economical on size. Chip-On-Glass LCD modules can be as thin as 2 mm.

Cost effective over COB, especially in graphic LCD modules, because reduces the number of IC’s.

More reliable than TAB due to TAB’s weakness in the bond area.

Disadvantages:

COG can only be used at a certain resolution level where the lines are not too fine. At very fine pitches COG becomes difficult to test, and TAB would be the preferred approach.

It may be more cost-effective to use TAB or COB, if a designer has to integrate a keypad or indicator around the display.

The active area is not centered within the outline but offset, because of the area where the circuits are.

  • Learn how to identify common problems with your main board LCD TV Repair Review
Click Here to BUY TV REPAIR PARTS: https://www.shopjimmy.com

I would like to say that if you are having a problem with your TV be sure to check the model number first. The model number appears in this little box over here. Every TV is different, this is a Sony LCD TV but you will see the model number and serial number over in a box like this. The model number are very important because that is what will help you to identify what parts are needed to repair your TV.
So the first thing you are going to want to do is make sure you have unplugged your TV from any power source and that you have also grounded yourself properly. Next you will want to take out the screws in the TV that are holding the back cover on it. Every back cover of at TV is different but most are help in by screws and can be easily removed. So we have removed all of the screws here on the back of the TV, now we are just going to remove this back panel. Again this controls your inputs and outputs and controls your video and audio. The first sign that there could be something wrong with your main board is if your picture on your screen is not appearing. You plug in a blu-ray player to HDMI connector and it doesn’t work or you have your cable box connected anywhere to the main board and you are getting a picture on the screen. If this is the case I always recommend that people double check on a different TV and be sure that the cable box is working correctly or the blu-ray players or DVD player, whatever you have connected to the main board just to make sure that it is not the source that is the problem. But yet it is actually the TV that is not showing the image.
Now it is possible to repair the main board at the component level but it can be very difficult at times. Component level repairs take a lot more knowledge and expertise, board repairs typically you just have to remove the screws and carefully remove these connectors and you can put a new board right in there, put the screws in and reconnect the connectors and you should be good to go. Typically what we recommend is ordering a new board as that will be a lot easier and faster for your repair. Again, you would want to look up the board number that you find on the damaged main board, you can search that part number on our website and find compatible replacements for this board.
You can also search your TV model number on our website and that will show you the different compatible boards for each part throughout the TV. Typically with a main board you will see there will be a lot more video issues than you do audio issues. One of the most common issues is having a bad HDMI input. But any of these components can go bad as well. Thank you for watching our LCD video.

The new Furuno 1835 Radar is a high contrast 10.4″ color LCD radar designed for a wide range of vessels including pleasure craft, fishing boats and work boats. This new radar offers crystal clear target presentation with automatic Gain/Sea/Rain controls to deliver noise-free radar presentation. It features superb detection of even small targets both at short and long range. It also boasts all-new display modes which will assist you with navigating safely on all waters. The Furuno 1835 RADAR allows you to see far away objects before they are visible, and allows you to see in the dark, fog or during periods of obstructed visibility in any weather condition. With its advanced signal processing technology, the 1835 demonstrates a substantial increase in target detection, particularly for close range targets.

The Furuno 1835 RADAR can be interconnected with other navigation equipment such as chart plotters and sounders through Furuno’s programmable NMEA 0183 interface system, affording operators the ability to expand their boat’s system as needed.

    Furuno 1835 RADAR AIS/ARPA Display:

Up to 100 AIS and 10 ARPA targets can be tracked and overlaid on the radar screen to assist the operator in monitoring other vessel movements. Since AIS works by VHF transceiver system, a variety of navigational information such as vessel name, speed, ROT, draft, and the destination of the selected targets can be included in real time. Unlike ARPA targets, AIS targets are visible on-screen even if they are obscured by large ships or islands.

    Off-Center Mode:

With a push of the OFF CENTER button, own ship position can be shifted to a pre-registered point on the screen, allowing the operator to focus on a specific area ahead of or around the vessel without losing track of the position
    Standard Features:
Easy-to-install 10.4″ portrait color LCD (350 cd) display
Bonded LCD provides clear view in all weather conditions
Stable AIS/ARPA target-tracking with zoom display function
Full Screen Mode lets operators observe a wider range around the vessel
    Enhanced auto tuning/gain/anti-clutter controls
Echoes in yellow, green, orange or multiple colors
