WARNING: I’ve heard from no less than 6 people that they are having issues with the bed plate wobbling. Mine didn’t have any problems, either did many others, but be advised that QC MAY be an issue in that department!

An Energia Graphics library for the Nokia 5110 LCD Display and the TM4C123 Launchpad
This video shows examples from a Graphics library which can be used with Energia to draw text and shapes on the Nokia 5110 LCD panel connected to the Texas Instruments Launchpad TM4C123. A Pacman-type game using the graphics library is also shown. You may want to skip parts of the video if you want to try the pacman game for yourself.

Follow the instructions on that page – Drivers aren’t always necessary.
Follow the Getting Started Video half-way down the page. This will ensure that the link between Energia on your computer and the TM4C123 Launchpad is working, and shows you how to download sketches to the launchpad.
Here are some instructions on connecting a header to the LCD, in order to connect it to a breadboard:
https://learn.adafruit.com/nokia-5110-3310-monochrome-lcd/wiring – The rest of the article is about connecting the LCD panel to an Arduino. The Arduino works on 5V, the LCD on 3.3v – that’s why they use a level shifter chip. The Launchpad uses 3.3v, so this chip isn’t needed in our setup.
You also need M-F jumper wires to connect the TM4C123 to the 5110 LCD, such as those on this page:
Use the jumper wires to make these connections:
TM4C123 – LCD 5110,
+3.3v – Vcc,
GND – GND,
PB_5 – RST,
PB_4 – Clk,
PB_7 – Din,
PA_7 – CE,
PA_2 – DC
Download the zip-file which includes the graphics library and the pacman game from:
Extract the files – they will be in two folders: “Examples_folder” and “Pacman_folder”.
In Energia, go to File – Open, and navigate your way into the Examples_folder, and open the “Examples.ino” file.
You will see that this loads all the other files in the same directory into Energia.
Make sure you are in the Examples.ino tab, then upload the file to the TM4C123 board. File/Upload
You should see the examples from the Graphics library as shown in the video. Press Switch 2 on the Launchpad to go to the next section each time.
Then go to File – Open again, and navigate into the Pacman_folder, and open the “Pacman.ino” file. Upload this to the board, and play the game. Note that the switches to control the pacman game are Switch 1 and Switch 2 which are part of the TM4C123 board – no external components – apart from the Nokia 5110, are needed. The switches only turn the pacman character when it is either in a row or column. Where pacman has been stopped by a barrier, this is very easy. But in later levels, you have to estimate when is the correct time to press the switch – see the video.

Some of the graphics commands are adapted from LCD5110_Graph.cpp – Arduino/chipKit library support for Nokia 5110. See: http://www.rinkydinkelectronics.com/library.php?id=47 .The source of each function in the library is clearly shown. Some functions were adapted from versions originally designed for use with an Arduino.
